The TE-offices were abolished at the beginning of the year and public employment services were transferred to the municipalities. To this end, municipalities have set up employment areas. The employment areas have now started to operate.

The employment areas have built up their services on their own terms. Indeed, one of the drivers of the reform was that locally delivered employment services are more relevant and effective when the needs of the local economy are well understood.

Publicly available employment services can be found online at tyomarkkinatori.fi. When you register with the Job Market, you are registering as a jobseeker, so the address is important.

What is my employment area?

Go to the Job Market regional website https://tyomarkkinatori.fi/en/regional-pages. Enter the name of your municipality in the search box and the service will tell you which employment area you are in.

The service will take you to the regional pages, which will show you your employment area. You can also see news about your area and find job vacancies instantly.

Unemployment protection

When applying for unemployment benefit, always remember to register as a jobseeker in good time and also to keep your job application valid. You can do this by using the Job Market Centre.

Then follow the instructions given by the employment services.
