In addition to income security, we can also help our members find a job. In a recent Member Pulse (our regular member survey), we asked about job search issues. We found out that job search is common among our members and that there is a very open attitude towards it. Thank you to the people who responded!
Uncertainty in the labour market has increased slightly
Many respondents reflect on the impact of the challenging global situation on their own sector, which is reflected in increased uncertainty. However, actual concerns about unemployment in their sector have not increased since last autumn.
Although there has been some increase in general uncertainty, their own situation appears to be quite good. However, the majority of those in employment (83%) think that their own job situation will not change in the next year. At the same time, 34% of the unemployed and 50% of the laid off expect to find a job in the coming months. 6% of those in employment expect to become unemployed, which is lower than the current unemployment rate of the YTK membership (7.7% in 03/2024).
Job search is common and open
39% of all respondents say they are looking for a job. Virtually all of the unemployed are looking for a job, but the majority of those laid off (76%) are also looking for a job. Around half of those working part-time are looking for a job and a quarter of those working full-time.
Job search is not very restricted, with up to 60% looking for work outside their own sector and occupation. This does not support the idea that jobseekers are picky about job offers. This is especially so when you also take into account that up to 65% of unemployed jobseekers also reported that they had applied for jobs where the pay was lower than in their previous job. People also apply for jobs even if the salary is not indicated in the job advertisement.
Help with job search
We also asked respondents to rate their own job search. Almost half of the respondents said they would look at different options, regardless of the sector, as long as their skills were suitable for the job. This was an encouraging result, as we are currently building a job search assistant who will look for vacancies based on skills.
We have also launched a new service, YTK Spark, which will help you identify and articulate your skills, among other things. Thousands have already used the service. Why not take a look for yourself? If you’ve already used the service, tell a friend.

Thank you to the respondents
Once again, we received over 18 000 responses to the Member Pulse. We thank all respondents. Your responses are important because they help us to make the best possible improvements. We will also use the results of the analysis in the public debate and try to influence the general development of income security in a positive direction.
