Termination of membership

Membership of an unemployment fund is an important support in the face of the ups and downs of working life. There may be times in your life when you consider giving us up. Fortunately, in most situations, giving up is not necessary. See the list below to find out what to do with your membership in different situations.

Termination practices

You can resign from the unemployment fund at any time by filling in an electronic resignation form.

The date of resignation is the date of receipt of the resignation form. You can only resign retroactively if you change fund or retire. When you change fund, the date of resignation is the day before the date you join the other fund. Similarly, when you retire, the cut-off date is the day before your pension starts.

Please note! If you are not paying the membership fee for 2025, please enter 1.1.2025 as the end date of your membership. Don’t forget to join us or another unemployment fund within one month of the date you ended your membership with us. This way you can ensure that there will be no interruptions in your unemployment insurance.

If you have paid a full year’s membership fee and leave in the middle of the year, please use the resignation form to indicate your account number for a refund of your membership fee. If there is more than 10 € left over from your membership fee, we can refund it at your request.

Other points to note

Only as a member of an unemployment fund can you collect a working condition. If you leave the fund and do not rejoin us or another unemployment fund within one month, you will lose the working conditions you have accumulated.

If you are joining an unemployment fund for entrepreneurs, you will be entitled to an employee’s daily allowance if you become unemployed before you meet the self-employment condition. This is subject to you joining the entrepreneurs fund within one month of leaving us.

The YTK is an unemployment fund. Membership with us does not prevent you from joining a trade union. So if you are about to join a trade union, you do not have to leave the YTK to join a trade union.
